Written off. Summary: The airframe was written off. The event occurred at Santo Domingo (Dominican Republic) while standing. Narrative: The aircraft was damaged beyond repair when a Curtiss C-46 (HI-503CT) was blown into it by Hurricane Georges. As a result, the aircraft was broken up early 1999.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Many parts, including the cockpit section, were salvaged by the Super Constellation Flyers Association for use on their project.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

2006 \u2013 2009<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

A simulator is being fabricated using the aircraft\u2019s cockpit section, controls and instruments. The work began in early 2006 and is being carried out in a disused industrial building in the Swiss town of Schlieren by SCFA member Christian M\u00fcller.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

2015<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The simulator was relocated to \u201eRunway 34 Sim Academy AG\u201c near Zurich Airport, where it became operational in 2015.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
